Mission Statement
The mission of the Art Program is to provide students with the
opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge leading toward

and individualized creative expression.
Complimented by an outcomes based liberal arts curriculum, the
Art Program serves to engage students in the visual arts with
studio concentrations, digital arts, art history, and content area

fewer than 39 hours of 3000-4000 level course work, therefore the
remaining 3000-4000 level hours will need to come from a minor,
liberal arts elective studies in depth, and/or general
electives.
Note:
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art also have the
option to complete the Art Education P-12 Program through the
Education Division and to be eligible for teacher certification.
The program requires 39 hours of course work in Education that
includes a semester of student teaching. Interested students should
contact Dr. Janette Ralston, the Art Education P-12 Program
Coordinator, for Education program advising.
Exit Assessment
Successful completion of a portfolio of work completed during the
Art Majors Seminar or Art Internship.
