Biography:
Dr. Martin Wesley is currently working as an Assistant Professor
and Coordinator of Research for Lindsey Wilson College, School of
Professional Counseling. He has been licensed in Kentucky for 5
years as an LPCC and was licensed as an LPC and CPC in Arizona
prior to returning to Kentucky. Martin has also been certified in
Substance Abuse Counseling from Arizona and currently holds a
Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) credential from NAADAC; the
National Association for Addiction Professionals. He holds a B.S.
in Psychology from Liberty University, a M.Ed. in Counseling from
Northern Arizona University and a Ph.D. in Academic and Counseling
Psychology from Walden University.
Dr. Wesley enjoys working with adolescents and adults struggling
with addictions. He also has a burden for helping couples and
families that are besieged by pressures and difficulties so common
in society. He is especially interested in the mental and emotional
health of counselors, therapists, and other helpers. He has
worked as a director of a child welfare and counseling agency. He
has been the director of a substance abuse facility and worked in
private practice. Dr. Wesley has worked as a clinical director,
supervisor, therapist, crisis counselor and substance abuse
counselor.
Dr. Wesley is a native Kentuckian, born in Lexington, Kentucky.
He has a proud family heritage in Kentucky extending over 200
years. He has been married for 25 years and has three daughters and
two grandsons. He also loves his dachshunds. His love of these
animals contributed to research in the area of Animal-Assisted
Therapy.
