Awakening Ministry Team
The Awakening Ministry Team is a student driven outreach of
Lindsey Wilson College. It is a team of committed, gifted student
leaders who travel in order to spread a message of spiritual
awakening through their talents and testimonies. The Awakening team
travels to local churches throughout Kentucky leading primarily in
Sunday morning worship services; the team also takes a yearly
spiritual journey to a destination within the United States, and
participates in missions throughout the world.
Over the past several academic years the Awakening Ministry Team
has represented Lindsey Wilson College while serving with
forty-three different churches and faith-based or community
organizations. These experiences have led the team on
adventures ranging from leading bible school in an orthodox parish
church in rural Romania to sharing music with patients at an AIDS
Care home in Kansas City. Awakening's central task of ministering
to congregations keeps them closer to home - but puts them on the
road two weekends a month during the academic year. The team visits
churches of various denominations, sizes, and styles across the
Commonwealth of Kentucky, sharing through the arts, music, and
testimony. It is a ministry that students are passionate about and
a reflection of spiritual growth at Lindsey Wilson College.
An Invitation to Worship with You
Awakening travels by the invitation of churches throughout the
region, who are willing to host the team, including overnight if
necessary, and receive a creative, vital message of being alive to
God's fullness.
Academic Clubs
Several clubs also promote spiritual growth, worship and
fellowship:
- The Lindsey Wilson chapter of Baptist Student Union is a
thriving group that works to disciple students as they challenge
tough biblical questions.
- Catholics United For the Faith is Catholic student discussion
group that explores the relevant and significance of the Catholic
faith for Catholic and non-Catholic students.
- Living In Faith Eternally is an interdenominational club that
hosts a weekly contemporary worship service as an effort to
integrate worship and campus outreach.
- Raiders in Christ is a weekly devotional group hosted by
members of the local Church of Christ.
- Through Small Group Ministry, students meet for Bible study and
fellowship. A variety of groups meet the variety of needs on
campus. Groups include: Alpha, Beta, independent studies, and
