The undergraduate
Education Program at Lindsey Wilson College prepares teachers who
touch "every student, every day." Teacher candidates have the
choice of ten programs that lead to eligibility for
certification in Kentucky and reciprocal certification in most
states.
Program Distinctions
Vision: "To prepare teachers who are effective
leaders and reflective educators in 21st century educational
settings."
Mission:
The mission of the Education Division is to prepare teacher
candidates in a Christian learning environment with the knowledge,
skills, and dispositions required to be successful, reflect
teacher-leaders in the 21st century.
This mission is embodied in the four Student Learning Outcomes
of the Unit:
- Knowledge - Teacher candidates demonstrate
in-depth knowledge in their content areas
- Pedagogy - Teacher candidates plan and
implement classroom strategies that foster learning
- Leadership - Teacher candidates provide
leadership in the school and community
- Reflective Best Practice - Teacher candidates
develop dispositions as caring, reflective, self-assessing thinkers
and professional teachers
Accreditation:
The Division of Education at Lindsey Wilson College is accredited
by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board and a
candidate for accreditation by the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), http://www.ncate.org/. Candidacy status means
that the Division of Education has met preconditions for
accreditation with NCATE. The accreditation visit is
scheduled for Spring, 2013.
