Admission to Teacher
Education

Rights |
Responsibilities |
- Students who have been admitted to Lindsey Wilson College have
the right to apply for admission to the teacher education program
provided they have declared their major in an approved program and
meet the admission requirements outlined in the college catalog and
in the Education Candidate Handbook
- A student has the right to appeal the admission decision to
teacher education outlined in the "Due Process Policy" in the
Education Candidate Handbook

- Students are responsible for fees and registration for
completing the state required pre-professional skills assessment
PPST I
- Students are responsible for using the PPST test preparation
offered periodically by the Division of Education

Admission to Student Teaching /
Clinical Semester

Responsibilities |
- Students have the right to a student teaching placement
provided they successfully complete all requirements for student
teaching outlined in the college catalog, the Education Candidate
Handbook, and the Student Teaching Handbook.
- A student has the right to appeal the admission decision to
student teaching outlined in the "Due Process Policy" in the
Education Candidate Handbook

- Students are responsible for following all timelines and
procedures outlined in the Education Candidate Handbook for
student teaching
- Students have the responsibility to complete all state
requirements in regulation prior to student teaching
- Students are responsible for fees and registration for
completing the state required Praxis exams
- Students are responsible for using the test preparation offered
periodically by the Division of Education
- Students are responsible for being familiar with the Student
Teaching Handbook and all materials related to student
teaching

Retention/Evaluation Of
Candidate Progress

Responsibilities |
- Teacher candidates have the right to progress through the
education program when they follow all guidelines and meet all
criteria outlined in the Education Candidate Handbook and remain in
good standing by maintaining the standards of the Division of
Education as outlined in the "Retention" section of the Education
Candidate Handbook.
- Teacher candidates have the right to appeal any decision
related to Stage assessments and progress through the education
program consistent with the "Due Process Policy" outlined in the
Education Candidate Handbook

- The candidate has the responsibility to pursue questions
concerning evaluation of course work or field requirements with the
appropriate instructor at the time of the assessment.
- The candidate has the responsibility to be knowledgeable of
course and field requirements.

Exit from Education
Program

Responsibilities |
- The candidate has the right to be recommended for certification
when he / she has successfully completed all education program
requirements including assessments and meets all state regulation
requirements including Praxis exams.

- The candidate has the responsibility to complete and return to
the Division of Education Office the form "Application for Kentucky
Certification" (TC1).
- The candidate has the responsibility to register for and
successfully complete the state required Praxis exams and have the
scores sent to the Division of Education.
- The candidate has the responsibility to be in good standing
with Lindsey Wilson College in order for transcripts to be released
to the Division of Education and forwarded to the Kentucky
Education Professional Standards Board.

Dismissal from Education
Program or Student Teaching/Denial of Recommendation for Teacher
Certification

Responsibilities |
- The candidate has the right to appeal dismissal from the
Education Program including the student teaching semester by
following the "Due Process Policy" in the Education Candidate
Handbook, the Student Teaching Handbook, and the college
catalog.
- The candidate has the right to appeal the denial of
recommendation for certification by following the "Due Process
Policy" in the Education Candidate Handbook, the Student
Teaching Handbook, and the college catalog

- The candidate has the responsibility to follow the appeal
procedure for dismissal and to be well informed.
- The candidate has the responsibility to follow the procedures
outlined for certification denial in a timely manner.,
