Civic Engagement Learning Community
Rights, Relationships, Responsibilities
Students who join Three Rs, the Civic
Engagement Learning Community, benefit from social programming,
academic programming, and shared classes that consider issues and
content important to preparing for to be a responsible citizen or
for careers that involve good communication, critical thinking and
knowledge of history and government.
Who can join?
All incoming freshmen who are interested in careers in public
service and in living a life that will promote the welfare of
others are invited to join the Three Rs Learning Community.
Bonner leaders, students interested in law, political science,
criminal justice, history and communication are especially
encouraged to join.,
What classes are part of the Civic Engagement Learning
Community?
- Freshman Seminar (Amy Thompson Wells)
- Public Speaking (Greg Phelps)
- US History (Melinda Senters) or US Government (Stefan
Brooks)
What service project will the Three Rs members do?
Three Rs Learning Community members will choose service
projects that benefit the local community.
What other special activities are planned?
The Learning Community will visit Nashville or
Washington DC to explore the rights, relationships and
responsibilities that are part of being an engaged
citizen.
