Biography:

Rev. Dr. Cinda Johnston Swan was born in Denver, Colorado, and grew up in such countries as England, Scotland, Turkey, Pakistan, and Haiti. She holds a B.A. in Bible from Asbury College, an M.Th. from Campbellsville University, and an M.A. in Christian Ministries from Asbury Theological Seminary. Dr. Swan recently completed her doctoral studies at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Swan serves at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky, as Instructor of Religion where she teaches such classes as Women in Religion, Spiritual Formation, Contextual Ministry, and Prayer.  "The opportunity to shape and impact young adults for the work of ministry through my appointment at Lindsey Wilson College is extremely rewarding," says Dr. Swan, "I consider it a great privilege to be able to teach at an academic level as well as to participate in the overall work of mission and evangelism throughout our Kentucky Annual Conference." Dr. Swan is an ordained Deacon in full connection in the United Methodist Church. She has served as a director of Christian Education and as a state prayer coordinator for an international women's ministry. Dr. Swan has contributed chapters to three college textbooks. She has led many workshops, particularly in the areas of prayer, spiritual formation, and marriage enrichment. Dr. Swan is the author of Christus Victor: The Triumph of Jesus Christ as the Basis for Spiritual Warfare (Belleville, ON: Guardian Books, 2010).
