Sarah Young 2013 B&WSarah Young, Class of 2005

Everyone has something unique they are passionate about.

For Sarah Young, her passion is understanding the modern workplace and looking at ways that design helps her clients work smarter. Sarah has traveled from Kentucky to California pursuing a successful career in architectural marketing.

Her journey began at Lindsey Wilson College. Born and raised in Paris, Ky., and the granddaughter of an LWC alumnus, Sarah was drawn to LWC's charming atmosphere when it came time for making her college choice.

During her years at LWC, Sarah was involved in numerous activities including the Begley Scholars, Lindsey Wilson Singers, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Alpha Chi Honor Society, Student Government Association and Student Ambassadors. Sarah also worked in the Admissions Office as a student, considering the experience to be critical foundation for her career in marketing. She earned an English degree and was influenced by the entire English faculty, her co-workers in the Admissions Office, as well as other faculty and staff.

After graduation, Sarah spent six years in Lexington, Ky., as director of marketing and business development at EOP Architects.

She moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to work in a marketing position with the global design firm Gensler. In June 2013, she relocated to Gensler's San Francisco office. Since joining the firm, she has focused on developing business in the commercial office building market.

Sarah looks back on her LWC experience as a wonderful time in her life in which she was exposed to new ideas and different worldviews. She developed a number of interests, including a curiosity about politics and current events; a love of literature and the arts; an emphasis on the environment and other social justice issues; and a focus on volunteerism and public service. She says that is exactly what college should be.
