Students Recognized for 3-Minute Short Stories

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- A quartet of Lindsey Wilson College students was recognized for their creative writing. The four were winners in the "3-Minute Fiction Competition," sponsored by the college's "Lindsey Writes" initiative.


Students were invited to write up to a 600-word short story that included the phrase "I was so scared."


The winners, who received a cash prize, were recognized by Kentucky author and folklorist Lynwood Montell on Tuesday, Oct. 29, during a reading held in the Cralle Student Union Building.


The winners were:


* Maria Cozzens of Shelbyville, Ky., who wrote "The Mystery of the Haunted Toilet";

* Hannah Jones of Bremen, Ky., "The Radio";

* Kellie Mann of Chicken Bristle, Ky., "Solitude";

* Amelia Withers of Jamestown, Ky., "The Light."
