COLUMBIA, Ky. -- A group of Lindsey Wilson
College students "got motivated" recently at a daylong business
seminar in Lexington, Ky. The 29 LWC students attended the popular
"Get Motivated" seminar on Sept. 28 at Rupp Arena.
The seminar attracted more than 15,000 people, who heard from a
roster of speakers that included University of Kentucky men's
basketball coach John Calipari, former New York City Mayor Rudy
Giuliani, Gen. Colin Powell, Forbes president and CEO Steve Forbes
and former college football coach Lou Holtz.
"This was one of the most enjoyable and informative seminars
I've ever attended," said Kenton Ryan Lee, an LWC freshman from
Danville, Ky.
LWC senior Brett Boles said that he learned from Powell that,
"It doesn't matter where you start in life, it's where you end
up."
Holtz taught him that, "If you don't have hope, you aren't
dreaming; everything starts with a dream."
The students' trip was funded by the LWC Horizons Program, which
provides funds for student activities that develop a broader
worldview through study-related fieldwork and travel.
The students were from a business applications course led
by Director of Community Education and Outreach Linda Grider and a leadership communication
course led by Assistant Professor of Communication Anne Streeter. Also attending the event
were students from LWC's Somerset Community Campus, who were
