Homecoming 2013 WEB
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College community will honor five alumni and three longtime friends at the college's 82nd Homecoming Weekend, to be celebrated Sept. 27-28.

LWC will also hold several reunions, celebrate the release of a new book, and hold a 5K race.

"It will be another full weekend for alumni and friends," said Lindsey Wilson Director of Alumni Relations Randy Burns. "We've assembled a weekend of activities in which there is something for everyone."

The fifth-annual Running With the Blue Raiders Homecoming 5K Fun Run will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 399 Williams St. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. CT, and the race starts at 8 a.m. CT.

At the Homecoming Alumni Brunch on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, the LWC National Alumni Association will honor three alumni and three college friends:

* Greg Hallof the Class of 1982, a Tompkinsville, Ky., native and current resident of San Diego will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Service Award;

* Glasgow, Ky., resident Brian Shirley of the Class of 1998 will receive the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award;

* the late Columbia resident Jean McLeanof the Class of 1949 will be honored posthumously with the Distinguished Service Award;

* and three individuals will named honorary Lindsey Wilson alumni: B.J. Burnett of Lexington, Ky., who has been a member of the Lindsey Wilson Board of Trustees for more than 25 years; and LWC Associate Professor of Music Gerald Chafin and his wife, Sonja, both of Columbia.

Following the awards brunch, former LWC professor and administrator Doug Moseley of Bowling Green, Ky., will sign copies of his latest book, From George W to George W, in Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. Moseley's book is full of little-known facts of U.S. presidents from George Washington through George W. Bush.

Before kickoff of the LWC-Faulkner (Ala.) University football game -- scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT Saturday, Sept. 28, at Blue Raider Stadium -- two former Blue Raider student-athletes will be inducted in the Lindsey Wilson Athletic Hall of Fame: Shelia Isenberg McGeorgeof the Class of 1990 and Joe McGeorgeof the Class of 1994. Both of the Tompkinsville residents were basketball standouts at LWC.

Throughout the weekend, reunions will be held for the classes of 1964, 1973, 1983, 1993 and 2003; former members of the Lindsey Wilson Singers, Bonner Scholars; and members of the Golden Alumni Society.
