COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Connor Wooten usually
does not get out of bed until around 8:30 on a weekday
morning.
But on Wednesday, Sept. 26, the Lindsey Wilson College
student was outside on campus more than an hour early than his
usual time. Wooten was one of 33 LWC students and staff members who
participated in See You
at the Pole. The students gathered at 7:30 a.m. CT for about 26
minutes at the flagpole on the Campus Quadrangle of the A.P. White
Campus.
The two-decade-old national event is an annual gathering of
students who meet in the morning in front of their local school
flagpole for a time of prayer and reflection. See You at the Pole
is usually held on the fourth Wednesday of September.
For this year's event at LWC, Wooten said he and his
classmates prayed for this fall's political
candidates.
"We prayed that our leaders will be open to the will of God
and be moldable by his hands," said Wooten, of Edmonton,
Ky.
LWC student Clint Berry of Henderson, Ky., said starting a
weekday off with prayer sets the day apart from
others.
"It really makes you refocus on your purpose -- the
commitment we have as Christians to our nation and for all the
people in our nation," Berry said.
