COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Music, art and history are the
major themes of the 2010-11 Lindsey Wilson College Cultural Affairs
Series.
From September through early May, the series will feature a
total of 16 concerts, recitals, talks and other special events. It
will also feature a production of Steel Magnolias by the
Lindsey Wilson Players under the direction of Robert Brock,
artistic director of Kentucky Repertory Theatre at Horse Cave.
This year's Lindsey Wilson cultural affairs calendar also
includes two special exhibits by the Kentucky Historical Society in
the college's Katie Murrell Library -- "Praise the Lord and Pass
the Ammunition: Kentuckians and World War II" and "Corsets,
Croquet, and Crusades: Kentucky Women's Lives, 1889-1914."
With the exception of the production of Steel Magnolias, the
events are free and open to the public.
"Lindsey Wilson is pleased to once again offer more than a dozen
cultural events to the residents of Southcentral Kentucky," said
LWC Cultural Affairs Chair Phil Hanna. "Each event offers a unique
perspective about life, and we hope people will take advantage of
them."
