SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College
Scottsville Campus celebrated the first Fat Tuesday in Allen County
on March 8 at the Lyric on Main.
Fat Tuesday marks the last day of eating rich foods before
fasting during the 40-day Lenten season. On Tuesday night in
Scottsville, more than 40 guests celebrated Fat Tuesday at the
Lyric, the location of Scottsville's former movie theater. The
celebration was the first known public celebration of Fat Tuesday,
according to Scottsville Mayor Rob Cline.
The event -- sponsored by Midwest America Federal Credit
Union -- raised more than $2,500 for scholarships for
students who attend the LWC Scottsville Campus. This school year,
LWC 82 enrolled students at its Scottsville Campus, which it has operated
since 1992.
