COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson
College community will hold its annual Veterans Appreciation
Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
The speaker will be Sgt. Dakota Meyer, the Marine Corps veteran who
received the Medal of Honor earlier this year from President
Obama.
The luncheon begins at 11 a.m. CT on Nov. 9, in Roberta D.
Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.
The luncheon is open to veterans and their spouses or a guest,
along with veterans' widows and widowers. There is no charge to
attend the luncheon, but guests are asked to RSVP by Nov. 1 by
contacting the Lindsey Wilson Alumni Office at alumni@lindsey.edu
or (270) 384-8400.
This is the ninth consecutive year Lindsey Wilson has held the
luncheon. The event is sponsored by the Lindsey Wilson
National Alumni Association.
Lindsey Wilson started the luncheon in 2003 as part of the
college's centennial celebrations. The annual event is not held on
Veterans Day so that it does not conflict with community
celebrations on that day.
"We started this luncheon as a way to show the college's
appreciation to those individuals who have served our nation during
both times of war and peace," said LWC Vice President for Student
Services and Enrollment Management Dean Adams, who is an LWC alumnus. "In just a
few years, the luncheon has become one of the more popular events
on campus. It's also one of the LWC community's favorite events
because faculty, students and staff enjoy interacting with veterans
and thanking them for serving our country."
The Lindsey Wilson College Veterans Appreciation Luncheon
will be held at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Nov. 9. The luncheon is
free to all veterans, veterans' survivors and a guest. Guests
should RSVP by Nov. 1 by contacting Lindsey Wilson at
