Thompson Named VP for Development

Kevin A. Thompson has been at LWC since 1992, the last 11 years in the college's development program.

COLUMBIA,  Ky. --  Kevin A. Thompson has been named vice president for development at  Lindsey  Wilson  College.

Thompson, who has been at Lindsey Wilson since 1992, was most recently associate vice president for development.

"Kevin has a passion for this college, its mission and its students," said Lindsey Wilson College President William T. Luckey Jr. "He is also a first-class development professional who is well-respected by the alumni and friends of Lindsey Wilson, and I know he will give our development program outstanding leadership."

Before spending the last 11 years in development, Thompson led LWC's admissions program, first as director of admissions then as vice president of enrollment management. The college set several enrollment  records under Thompson's leadership.

"It is a real honor and privilege to serve  Lindsey  Wilson  College  in this capacity," Thompson said. "I love this college because of the way it serves  'every student, every day'  and  continues to meet all students'  needs."

As vice president for  development, Thompson oversees the college's Lindsey Wilson Fund, which raises money for scholarship aid; alumni relations, which works with more than 8,000 alumni of the liberal-arts college; and planned giving, which helps alumni and friends to make gifts to the Lindsey Wilson Endowment.

In addition to working with Director of Alumni Relations Randy Burns to increase the percentage of the college's alumni giving, Thompson also wants to raise attention to the critical role the Lindsey Wilson Endowment plays in securing the Lindsey Wilson's future.

"Lindsey Wilson's estate-planning program continues to grow and meet the needs of the college's growing student body," Thompson said.  "Lindsey Wilson has such a compelling mission, which is why people want to support this college. But as Lindsey Wilson continues to grow, so do its students'  needs.

"With our record enrollment, building the Lindsey Wilson Endowment is more important than  ever because it will help secure the college's long-term future.

Lindsey Wilson just completed the "Changing Lives Campaign," which raised more than $56 million over a seven-year period.

"People support Lindsey Wilson because they see the kind of leadership it has in President Luckey and they know the college is on the right track," Thompson said. "They also support the college because they believe in its mission and they know that students who attend Lindsey Wilson will be forever changed by its unique  mission."

Thompson and his wife, Donna Beth, share three children: Jared, 15; Evan, 15; and Ally, 13. They are members of  Glasgow  First  United  Methodist  Church.
