Lindsey Writes

"Lindsey Writes Confidently for Communication, Career and Community"

Launched in January 2013, Lindsey Writes is a writing-across-the-curriculum program that impacts undergraduate students on the A.P. White Campus. Lindsey Writes is also LWC's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) for the LWC's 2013 reaccreditation.

Lindsey Writes
includes three components:

1) Writing in the Core Initiative: focuses on writing to learn in core general education courses;

2) Writing in the Disciplines Initiative: focuses on developing writing skills specific to the student's major discipline;

3) Writing for Life Initiative: incorporates writing-focused activities and skills.

Lindsey Writes provides training for faculty in the use of writing to learn strategies and in techniques for teaching students how to write in their disciplines. The program also trains students to serve as writing fellows -- writing tutors/mentors who are assigned to assist faculty teaching specific writing-intensive courses.

Addtionally, the program trains writing advocates -- students who volunteer to promote Lindsey Writes at campus events. An assessment component uses multiple tools to measure progress in student learning outcomes and the program's effectivenes.
