Dr. Terry Swan is Professor of Psychology and Religion and Dean
of the Chapel at Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, Kentucky.
He has served in various capacities at the college over the past
twenty five years including Vice President for Academic Affairs and
Dean of the College, Chaplain, Director of Counseling Services and
Chair of the Human Services Department.
The Lindsey Wilson College student body has named Dr. Swan
Teacher of the Year five times. He was Lindsey Wilson's first
master teacher ever as named in a 1.8 million-dollar U.S.
Department of Education Grant. He also has received the
Exemplary Teacher Award among the United Methodist Colleges.
He has been the recipient of the Francis Asbury award for
outstanding leadership in United Methodist higher education.
He is the author of twenty books including the bestselling
The Balance Book and The Marriage
Marathon. Recent books include Soul
Explorers and Profit from Your Losses: Finding
Strength in Adversity.
Dr. Swan is a graduate of Centenary College and holds four
graduate degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary, Western Kentucky
University (2), and Vanderbilt University respectively. He is
a retired officer from the U.S. Army Reserves with rank of
Colonel.
Dr. Swan is married to the Reverend Cinda Swan, also a United
Methodist clergyperson who teaches at Lindsey Wilson. They
have two adult children, Asa, who is a history professor at Lindsey
Wilson and Eva, an actress in Los Angeles. The Swans reside
in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
