Before graduating from Lindsey Wilson College with a Master's of
Education Degree, Amanda McGrew earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree
from Western Kentucky University. Now Amanda and her family
reside in Cecilia, Kentucky, and over the past decade she has
dedicated her time advocating for individuals with intellectual and
developmental disabilities.
In 2002, Amanda began working at Communicare where she performed
duties as a case manager, and later she went on to specialize in
Crisis Prevention. During her time there, she helped train
new employees during specialized orientation; she was a member of
the satisfaction survey team, quality improvement committee, policy
and procedure committee as well as the admission committee.
Amanda participated in community outreach programs and public
relations to provide education to individuals and their families
for obtaining help through Kentucky Waiver programs and regional
appointed crisis funds.
During her time as a graduate student at Lindsey Wilson, Amanda
was able to remain employed as the Executive Director of Lincoln
Way, a locally owned agency providing Medicaid Waiver Services to
individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
She served as a Graduate Assistant for two semesters and completed
over 600 hours of direct and indirect practicum and internship
hours. In 2012, Amanda made her first appearance at the
Kentucky Mental Health Counseling Association (KMHCA) where she
presented material on Serving Individuals with Intellectual
Disabilities. Amanda is also a member of The American
Counseling Association, (ACA).
