Duane has been director of public relations since October 1995. As director of public relations, Duane oversees the college's external communications and marketing, and he also is the college's liaison to the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities.

Duane served as the college's public relations, manager from June 1991-July 1992. In addition to Lindsey Wilson, Duane has worked at the Journal & Courier in Lafayette, Ind., where he served on the copy desk and wrote a weekly column. 

A 1991 graduate of the University of Kentucky, Duane holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism with a double major in political science, an emphasis in political theory. He has completed post-baccalaureate work in higher education and communication.

Duane is also the Third District Commissioner and vice chair of the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights, president of the University of Kentucky School of Journalism & Telecommunications Alumni Board and chairman of the Kentucky Kernel Press Inc.
